The role of Darolelms of Buyid Dynasty in promoting Knowledge

The present paper is an attempt to describe and determine the role of Darolelms of Buyid Dynasty (Al-e Buye) in promoting knowledge on the one hand and in developing public culture on the other hand. The Buyids tended to hold cultural and scientific activities right after seizing power. This is mainly because not only one of the main reasons of preserving continuity and power was coupled with science and boosting public culture with scholarly approach, but also scientific independency and relying on local rich culture would prevent passivity against political and scientific rivals.Al-e Buye made an effort to lay a robust foundation of science in all aspects of structure, content, and talent-nurturing. In so doing, they established many educational and research centers such as libraries and schools which all took many intellectual and material facilities. In the same era, some other scientific, cultural, and religious institutions like Darolem were founded as well. The necessity of having a library made it essential to go further to build it sooner. The present paper employing a descriptive-analytical methodology provided a focus on part of this historical field i.e., the functions of Darolems in Buyid Dynasty.
