A Comparison of the Health Workers self Evaluation of training Competency with observation check list of the performance and Evaluation of the rate of clients satisfaction

Abstract:
Introduction
The proper evaluation of training competency is one the effective methods for ensuring the health and promote it. Therefore, this study is a comparative examination of the performance results of (self-evaluation of training competency) health care workers in Mashhad using the checklists of performance observation and the amount of clients’ satisfaction of them.
Methods
correlational analysis has been adopted in the study and a number of 250 health care workers in Mashhad were selected using Multi-stage)classified cluster probability sampling.(Data collection instruments entails three questionnaires including training competency measurement, measurement of clients satisfaction of the workers’ competency and observation checklist of the workers’ training performance which their reliability and validity were proved. Finally, the score correlation and the significant difference between these three methods were analyzed using SPSS v.16 software.
Results
The results of the study showed that the healthworkers’self-assessment score is higher than the scores obtained from observation of performance and the clients’level of satisfaction. The comparison of the mean scores of the two groups showed that there is a significant difference between the mean scores of the healthworkers’ self assessment and observation checklist (t= 16.43, p< 0.001). Moreover, there was a significant difference between the mean scores of the workers’ self assessment and clients’level of satisfaction (t= 7.30, p <0.001).
Conclusion
Self report by itself is not a good method for assessing the health workers’ performance. So, it is suggested that the managers use a combination of different methods to assess the health workers’ performance.
