A Semantic Study of

«Ihsan» (beneficence and kindness) is one of the fundamental Quranic words that play an important role in the construction of intellectual system and Quranic worldview. Due to its semantic relationship with other Quranic fundamental concepts such as piety and faith، this term has a wide semantic field in Quranic literature. Semantic field of this term is due to the basic shift of goodness criterion from personal tastes to monotheistic ones. The present paper examines the literal meaning of «Ihsan» and compares its Quranic meaning with its meaning in Arab literature before the emergence of Islam. It also studies some Hadith and tries to investigate the real criterion of «hosn» (goodness) from the perspective of Quran and Hadith. By considering to the spirit of the Quranic verses، i. e. monotheism can be said that in the Quranic culture «Hosn» of every phenomenon related to Allah Almighty.
