Sterategic solution for controlling slum growth in the urban areas (case study: Bonab city)

Rate of urbanization in developing countries, such as Iran, has flowed many problems for cities. Among of thease common problems of cities is the growth of informal settlements that have several problems for them. In this relation, Bonab as one of major cities of East Azarbaijan, according to geographic location and having several resources and employment opportunities has been as a center of absorbing immigrant population as a resuit continuing this process has been led to the formation of the slum phenomenon in this city. so, one of the major concerns of urban planners and administrators, in Bonab is slum controlling. Accordingly, the key question is which is the best strategy to control the growing slum in the city? Accordingly, in this paper, by meanse of discribing- analysising methodology, using SWOT strategic model,is attempted neccessary strategies for controlling slum growth in Bonab as studing cases, have been studied according to experts΄views. The results obtained in this study indicates the need to adopt a conservative approach in the management and control of slum in the city as central strategy. Also the ressult of valuing collected strategies based on QSPM metod shows that strategy of special attention of responsibles for good servicing and inhaitants and preparing the way for jobs and building good houses for rurals to prevent of immigration with absorbing grade 4/028 is in the first in the planning for controlling of slum growth in Bonab.
