The Compilation of the Strategy of Information Technology (IT) in National Olympic Committee (NOC) of the Islamic Republic of Iran

The aim of this study was to compile the strategy of Information Technology (IT) in National Olympic Committee (NOC) of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The nature of the present study was descriptive in which data were collected through the sample population. The statistical population consisted of all employees working in the central organization of the Iran National Olympic Committee (N=60). The experts were selected as the sample of the study. To collect data, a researcher-made questionnaire (with 53 items) was used. Its validity was determined by 7 professors from the sport management group of the physical education faculties in Tehran. The reliability of the questionnaire was calculated using the Chronbach' alpha (α>0.83). The collected data were analyzed using SPSS-16, descriptive statistics, mean comparison test and Friedman test. The results showed that the sum of the matrix scores for internal factors was lower than 2.50 which reflected the weakness for National Olympic Committee with respect to internal factors of IT. Also, the sum of matrix scores for external factors was more than 2.50 that reflected an opportunity for National Olympic Committee with respect to IT. The findings also showed that the IT section of National Olympic Committee fell into the WO strategic position. The findings of the study prescribed 15 strategies for the IT section of National Olympic Committee: 2 were assigned to SO, 7 strategies to WO, 3 strategies to ST and 3 to WT zones.
