Knowledge management and electronic document implementation in technological organizations (Case study: Water and Wastewater Company of the west of Tehran Province and its towns)

Nowadays، using knowledge management tools is a common practice in organizations and the lack of exploiting these methods and tools، leads to ineffectiveness. Many different reasons such as the volume of documents production، the necessity of accessing to them easily and on time، the impossibility of decision making due to lack of information، have made the electronic document management (EDM) systems to be designed and implemented. In this paper، firstly the knowledge management literature، documentation، the importance of coding system in organizations and the introduction of the functions of the EDM system as one of the knowledge management devices، are studied. Secondly، based on these studies، the implementation steps of EDM system in one of Tehran Water and Wastewater Companies are stated. This method can be considered as a general framework in variety of technological organizations.
