Assessment of Organizational Citizenship Behavior Status between Tabriz University Faculty Members

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to examine the perceptions of faculty members of Tabriz University regarding organizational citizenship behaviors. To this end, 227 faculty members of mentioned university were chosen by proportional stratified random sampling method. In terms of data collection, this study is classified in the category of descriptive researches and required data were gathered via “Podsakoff’s organizational citizenship behaviors scale”. The scale was submitted to experts in the field to elicit their views and criticisms. They were asked to assess this scale in terms of the Iranian higher education system, its culture and values. In light of their views and suggestions, the scale was amended. The Cronbach alpha value of scale was 0.777. Results of data analysis, by taking advantage of descriptive and inferential statistics, showed that faculty members’ perceptions regarding organizational citizenship behaviors is in a desirable condition. Also, there is no significant difference between citizenship behavior of faculty members according to gender, academic rank and discipline.
