Relationship between perfectionism, obsessive - compulsive and five factor personality trait with procrastination behavior in students of Azarbaijan University of Shahid Madani

This research was conducted to study the relationship between the academic procrastination behaviour of university students with perfectionism, obsessive – compulsive and five factor personality traits. Study was performed on Azarbaijan University of Tarbiat Moallem. The sample consisted of 265 students, which were selected through cluster random sampling method. The instruments employed in the study were The Almost Perfect Scale-Revised (APS-R), Padua Inventory” developed by Sanavio, Five Factor Model Personality Scale, Procrastination Assessment Scale – student(SPSS). Data were analyzed by multiple regression method. The results showed that perception of a discrepancy between those standards and actual performance, conscientiousness, openness, obsessive –compulsive personal traits were important predictive factors of procrastination behaviors. Also it was found that 35% of the variance of procrastination were accounted by linear combination of standards and actual performance, Conscientiousness, Openness, and obsessive –compulsive personal traits.
