Comparing the Mental Health of Parents of Children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and with Normal Children

In this study mental health of parents of children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) has been compared with mental health of parents of healthy children. The present study is descriptive (Casual – Comparative). By in access sampling, 400 parents of children with ADHD (200 cases in children, 6-18) and 400 parents of normal children (200 healthy children 18-6 years) were selected. SADS and K-SADS were used for collecting data. SPSS advanced, inferential two-variable tests chi and independent-t test were used for data analysis. analysis show that parents of children with ADHD suffer from disorders such as anxiety disorder 15.6%, obsessive exercise disorder 5.1%, obsessive thought disorder 4.6%, antisocial personality disorder / 5.%, Simple phobia disorder / 5.%, Social phobia disorder / 3.%, Schizophrenic disorder / 3.%, panic attacks / 3.% l and physical building disorder / 5.% more than parents of normal children. Thus, there was significant difference between these disorders in parents of children with ADHD and parents of normal children. High prevalence of disorders in parents of children with ADHD show that parents of children with ADHD have fewer mental health in compare with parents of normal children.
