Influence of modern information technology on the government academic libraries of Tehran

Today، information technologies are widely been used in the academic libraries. Sound understanding of influence of these technologies and various sections may provide much more appropriate policy making. The aim of this study is to recognize the level of modern technologies influence on various sections of government academic libraries of Tehran from the librarians’ viewpoints. The research is survey and the statistical population consist the librarians and managers working on various central government academic libraries throughout Tehran city. For gathering the information needed for the research a combination of documentary and field studies were benefited. The questionnaire consisted 56 questions and the data was analyzed though descriptive and inferential statistics. The finding indicated that modern information technologies use can help influence positively on different sections such as: acquisition، organization of materials، service organization library relations، inter-library cooperation and relations with clienteles. The results showed that in various sections of central government academic libraries of Tehran، modern information technologies had significant difference. Also، comparison of mean rates of scores indicated that most influence was on organization of resources and the least influence was organizational library relations.
