Pattern of disease in Ramadan compared with similar months

Background and Ramadan is one of the most important days of Muslim’s events. Facts show significant impact of this phenomenon on some social events such crimes. Medically, most research has been conducted on a limited number of diseases and laboratory changes during the holy month. There is no reliable research about the referral pattern of patients to hospital emergency during the Ramadan compared with the similar months. Based on systematic sampling, information from patient files are extracted and entered the check lists. Then data entered to computer and analysis by statistical software SPSS version 18. The mean patient age was 42.46 years. 57.4% of patients were male and the rest were female. The main cause of emergency room admissions in the month of Shaban, was gastrointestinal problems. In Ramadan causes were uro -genital tract disease and then complaints of the upper limbs and heart disorder respectively. In the month of Shawwal leading cause of emergency room admissions, was sign in the lungs. The differences were not statistically significant. According to this study, patient’s emergency pattern in the months of Shaban, Ramadan and Shawwal (even in three decades of months) are similar.
