Introduction and
Objectives
Cancer and suffering caused by it, Is one of the most horrible human experience. Exposure to this disease can be causing acute and severe crises in individual health. Religious beliefs at the time of disease finds more important compared to any other time for the person. Among the religious and spiritual resources, praying is the greatest source be used. Praying is strongest and highest solvents problems and with power of prayer can released spiritual energy. The present study was done with the aim of survey rate of resorting to praying in cancer patients referred to the food and drug administration center, Golestan university of medical sciences in 1392.
Methods
This descriptive correlation study was done on 96 patients diagnosed with cancer that treated with agonist drugs referred to the food and drug administration center, Golestan university of medical sciences with method census sampling among individuals eligible for the study. Data were collected by demographic questionnaire and resorting to prayer questionnaire which was prepared by (Poloma & Pendelton) and was revised by (Meraviglia) and were analyzed by statistical software spss 16 using descriptive statistics (frequency, mean, standard deviation) and inferential statistics (ANOVA).
Results
The results showed average resorting to prayer in frequency of prayer, with mean and standard deviation (7.21 ± 7/91); in previous prayer experience with mean and standard deviation (8.9 ± 6/45) and in the attitude of praying with mean and standard deviation (8 ± 9/33) was higher than average. Statistical test showed significant differences in among dimensions of praying. So that Frequency of prayer With previous experience Praying (p < 0/01), frequency of prayer With previous attitude Praying (p < 0/005), previous experience Praying With previous attitude Praying (p< 0/01) showed significant correlation. However, multiple linear regression Did not show Significant.
