The Relationship of Obsessive-Compulsive Subgroups, Inferential Confusion and Emotion Regulation Strategies with Obsessive Beliefs in Women

The many studies have reported inconsistent results about the relationship between obsessive beliefs with obsessive-compulsive symptoms and cognitive variables. The present study has been done with purpose of determination the relationship of obsessive-compulsive subgroups، inferential confusion and emotion regulation strategies with obsessive beliefs in women. The present research is correlation study، any kind of prediction. The number of 650 women with 20 to 40 ages had been selected by cluster random two-stage sampling; at first they completed Obsessive Beliefs Questionnaire. From those numbers، 83 women who were one deviation standard higher than average placed in the group of high obsessive beliefs، and 83 women who weren’t one deviation standard higher than average placed in the group of low obsessive beliefs. Research instruments were questionnaires of obsessive beliefs، inferential confusion، cognitive emotion regulation and obsessive compulsive. Data were analyzed by discriminant analysis with stepwise method. The results showed that only predictor variables of inferential confusion، washing and hoarding، classified correctly 80. 1% of respondents in groups that had high and low obsessive beliefs. Results of this study have confirmed inference based approach and appraisal model.
