Contemplation in the Meaning of the Images of the Futures: Building a Concept from Social Identity
The present study seek to answer the question about whether future images can create identity. The gist of the paper, metaphorically speaking, is that the passengers getting on a vehicle are more similar due to the common destination than the individual similarities. As such, the society which is like a ship moving toward a destination owes its identity not to the similar ethnic, racial, linguistic, cultural, and historical characteristics of its people but to the shared destination they heading toward. This paper will also discuss that the new perception of identity which we refer to as destination identity is of a great capacity to create solidarity and identity whether in the case of compatibility with societies in the transition phase.
