Rentire state, Economic monopolies and Social capital in Iran (1968-1984)

Most of the countries holder of natural resources are independent of income tax in their community. It seems, having a huge revenue earned from export of natural resources tends to increase utilization of these resources and leads to monopolies, control and economic areas pursuant supporter networks tend to increase rent-seeking. It can also have negative effects on social capital and networks, thus extending vertically rather than horizontally, undermining the norms and social trust cause. This research based on descriptive – explanatory method, tries to analyze and examine the impacts of oil rent on social capital in Iran between 1368 and 1384. Paper believes that the increase and intensification of state monopolies, social capital as a regulator of human relations and organizational norms and public confidence is weak and disorder in the short term, so that it causes widespread government corruption and in the long term resulting in social anomie.
