Examining the Components of Creating Adolescent Heroes in Screenplays based on the Hero Journey Pattern and within The Framework of Quranic Culture and Iranian Identity (A Case Study of movies " I van s Childhood" and "Th e Child and the Angel")

Abstract:
In the last decades some scholars in the field of script-writing have tried to design different patterns for characterization of the hero in cinema and television. Wiggler's Journey of Hero Pattern has created a new approach in script-writing due to its emphasis on hero development stages. The present study has reviewed adolescent journey pattern based on that of Wiggler. In this research which was carried out by a documentary methodology, the stages of hero journey within an archetypal realm and by considering Iranian culture and identity. In this study one stage was removed from Wiggler's pattern and three new stages were added, hence, the journey of adolescent hero was established within fourteen stages. This research tries to illustrate how cinema and television script-writing could create adolescent heros. As a case study, the narrative structures of two movies, i.e. "Ivan's Childhood" and "the Child and the Angel" were examined based on the proposed model.
