Evaluate of the Effects of three Antiseptic Solutions (Septisurface, DDSH and H2O2) on Contamination Levels of Restorative Dental Unit

Abstract:
Introduction
Based on reports of contamination of dental units, its consequences and the importance of dental surface antiseptics, this study aimed to investigate the effect of new antiseptic solutions on contamination levels in the dental units of Department of Restorative Dentistry, Islamic Azad University in Tehran. Materials & Methodes: This experimental study was carried out on nine units of the Restorative Department. A random sampling was carried out and then the experimental sulfaces were disinfected randomly using one of the 3 following solutions: Septisurface, Anios DDSH, and Biosanitized (activated H2O2). Subsequently, microbial sampling was performed at 3 time points and the bacterial colonies were counted. The bacterial species were identified using the specific tests. The data were analyzed using paired t test and one way analysis of variance at 0.05 levels. Resultes: The study demonstrated that all surfaced were contaminated before disinfection. Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes had the highest and the lowest prevalence respectively. There were statistically significant difference between before and after treatment for all of the solutionse (P=0.001). However, no difference between the 3 solutions on their effecs on gram positive bacteria was found.
Conclusion
There were no significant differences between the 3 solutions tested on this study in terms of disinfection effect. However, all solutions significantly reduced surface contamination
