Land-use suitability analyzing of Tabriz city growth with AHP-OWA model

Land-use suitability analyzing for urban growth is a very important task that urban planners and managers applied with aim of assigning suitable spatial pattern for urban development. Tabriz urban growth by recent decades implemented in unsuitable areas like sharp slope, proximity to fault, proximity to great industrials or in the agricutural lands of surrounding city. therefore, In order to reduce the negative impacts of inappropriate expansion of urban growth and the achievement of sustainable urban development, measures to determine areas suitable for future development of environmental and economic criteria in the city is essential. One of the methods is using AHP-OWA Multi Criteria evaluations. In this study after study effective works in the process of urban development, the three maps constraints (urban lands, industrial lands and 50 meters buffer of water) and 12 factor map (elevation, slope, aspect, distance from the road, distance from city, Distance from the industry, from the farm and garden, from the arid lands, distancefrom surface water, land-use capability and distance from fault) and weighting them based on AHP method. Then, to determine the weights OWA order to control the level of risk-taking and to be compensated. The results indicate the areas designated for urban development is in a range between zero and 255.
