Survey of towards the modern and religious identity and its relationship with the well - being in Tehran University students

The aim of this study was to determine the arrangement of religion and the modern youth identity and its relation to the well-being. For this purpose, 360 youth participated in the study. The method of sampling was convenience. Modern identity questionnaire, Islamic identity questionnaire, identity processing style (ISIG3; Berzonsky, 1992) and The satisfaction with life scale (Diener, E. D., & et al, 1985) were applied. Results showed that there was a negative relationship between religious and modern identity in youth. Between modern identity and informational style as well as between religious identity and the normative style was a significant positive correlation. Well-Being positively related to normative identity and the informational identity and avoidance identity was no significant relationship with Well-Being. The findings suggest that the style of modern and religious identity both independently is organized, consistent and unique, which can be used as a form of monolithic identity. The Modern and Religious identity differences was in the internal dynamics and Well-being was associated with structure of identity rather than it's content.
