" Regarding the Pain of Others": Media, Bias end the Coverage of International Disasters

The purpose of this study is investigating the type of media coverage in western media views to become less about the natural disaster and more about the local and national government response, about poverty and race, about culture and community, about external efforts to provide relief and indigenous commitments to rebuilding.
This study is a historical review and a certain subject has been investigated during a special period of time. The researcher tries to discover facts related to the topic of the article through gathering information (documents) and analyzing them. In this study, primary and secondary source of information has been used.
Findings and Exactly what the American mainstream media considers to be important could conclude that most mainstream media outlets do not consider international crisis and disasters holistically. Crisis are not crises; instead, they are a kind of virtual merchandise to be sold to fickle audiences who select what news to consume from an exhaustive menu of choices—from tragic disasters to celebrity breakups.The elements of a crisis are disaggregated and evaluated quite dispassionately, often by media accountants with priorities and expectations far different than that of government officials, policy wonks, NGO specialists, insurance executives or even news junkies.When relief workers look at the crisis and see crisis, for example, the media looks at crisis and see news, which is, for most media, a commodity. Viewed in that light it is possible to understand why media institutions do not have any inherent business instincts to cover even major disasters beyond the initial cataclysm. The mass of mainstream media looks for “opportunity”before they look for “importance”.
