Abstract:
Religion analyses from the perspective of communication in the form of three parts; the relationship between God and man (revelation), man and man (moral), and man and God (prayer). Prayer is one of the important pillars of religion. Today, many believe that the belief and practice of traditional religious ritual such as prayer are reduced in Muslim countries by entrance of modernity and its elements. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the relationship between cultural and economic factors. For this purpose, 400 people who were more than 15 years old were studied. The results indicate that cultural and economic factors, father and mother education and usage of modern mass media have a reverse and significant relationship with praying. And meditative prayer has significant differences in terms of birth place (urban-rural). The results indicate that modernity entrance to Iran and simultaneously, growing of modern factors could not reduce the belief and rate of praying, but brought it to the individualized form.
