Mother's Views Toward Exclusive Breastfeeding and Breast-Feeding Continuation: A Qualitative Study

Breast-feeding after birthandduringthe first two yearsof lifearethe mostimportant factors inthe growthanddevelopment of children. Forusingfrom the benefitsof breastfeeding formothers and infants should be exclusively until 6 months and continued breastfeeding up to 2 years. Regarding to views of mothers¡ this study was done in order to determine mothers’ views toward exclusive breastfeeding and Breast-feeding continuation.
This qualitativestudy was conducted by using of focus group discussions with (FGD) 37peoplein 6groups of women of Zahedan city that age15to 49 years. The interviews were done to full saturation by researcher for each group during 30to 90 minutes. Also¡ job and education variables were studied.
Afterdiscussingthemain themestitled «thestatusof exclusive breastfeedingandcontinued breastfeeding”and five sub-themes titlesduration ofexclusive breastfeeding¡ continued breastfeeding¡ exclusive breastfeedingandcessation of breastfeedingcauses¡ the education of health system about breastfeeding¡ andthe role ofReligious teachingsinthe continued breastfeedingwere obtained.
Findingsdemonstrated the most majority mothers were agree with continued breastfeeding up to twoyears¡ but the most housewivesmotherswithless education were opposite toexclusive breastfeeding. The important factors inBreast-feeding cessation statement low milk¡ laziness andimpatienceanddisease. Job of mothers has not negative effect on breastfeeding. The most mothers’ views of health system trainingwere weak. AS education is effective in improvement of exclusive breastfeeding and continued breastfeeding¡ hence must more emphasized.
