The Effect of Resistance and Combined Exercise on Serum C-Reactive Protein (hs-CRP) and Body Composition Characteristics in Patients With Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease

Background
It is believe that regular exercise can improve fatty liver diseases and inflammatory conditions. Thepurpose of this study was to investigate the effects of 8 weeks of resistance and combined trainings on levels of hs-CRPand bodycomposition characteristics in female with fatty liver disease.
Patients and
Methods
37 patients were identified and divided randomly into three groups including control¡ resistance exercise and combined exercise groups. Resistance exercise protocol included 8 movements¡ 3 sets¡ 8-10 repetitions which performed at %60-75 of one repetition maximum which performed 3 times per week for 8 weeks. Combined exercise included 4 resistance movement in the first half of training session and the aerobic exercise at intensity of %60-75 maximum heart rate in the other half. hs-CRP was measured using quantitative and Omega Kit and paired t-test or one-way ANOVA tests applied for extraction of results(P
Results
Combined exercise training increased CRP (P=0.05)¡ while it did not change significantly (P>0.05) after resistance protocol. In addition¡ waist circumference (P=0.04) after resistance exercise¡ and body fat percent after both resistance exercise (P=0.001) and combined exercise (P=0.001) protocoles decreased significantly.
Besides above¡ the one-way analysis of variance and Tukey''spost hoc testsindicated that changes (reduction) of body fat percent in the resistance training group (P
Conclusions
Resistance exercise improved body composition without CRP modification; thus it could be more beneficial female with fatty liver disease. However¡ it is necessary to carried out more study and evaluate other inflammation to present a definite suggestion.
