Collecting and Identifyingthe Flora of Bayander and Reyhan Regionin Zanjan
Bayander and Reyhanvillagesare located in ValaRud watershed, with an area of approximately 1,800 hectares, about 20 kilometers from the southwest of Zanjan province. The lowest and highest altitudes of the region are 1900 and 2400 meters above the sea level, respectively. Some parts of the area under study are protected by the broadcasting organization of the province which, to some extent, has preserved the area from destruction. The seasonal rivers pass the valleys in this region, resulting them being filled with water during the spring and dry in late July. Cold and dry climate prevail the highlands of the region. The flora of this region includes 175 plant species that belong to 129 genera and 41 families.The most important families in the region with respect to the frequency of the species are Asteraceae with 10.38% (20 sp.) and Papilioaceae with 10.38% (19 sp.), respectively. The biggest genus of the region is Astragalus with about 9 species. The life forms of the plant species in this region include: Hemichryptophytes 49.18%, Geophytes 20.76%, Therophytes 19.12%, Phanerophytes 6.55%, and Chamaephytes 4.37%, respectively with 90, 38, 35, 12, and 8 species. Studying the growth regions of the species revealed that 117 out of the 175 species had Irano-TuranianChorotype which comprised 66% of the total species. About 28% of the flora had two or more regional distribution, of which Irano-Turanian and Caspian species had a higher frequency. Finally, about 6.54% of the flora in this region has global distribution. Fourteen out of 175 species can only be found in Iran.
