The Causality as the Ontological Basis of the Intellectual Knowledge of God

Abstract:
Intellectual knowledge of God is based on epistemological, linguistic, and ontological bases, which its most important ontological base is causality and its ancillaries. There are four viewpoints in causality that accepting each of them leads to a specific result in philosophical knowledge of God. Some philosophers clam that "every being requires a cause"; consequently, there is no any way to prove the existence of God as the uncreated creator. Atheism of many western thinkers has roots in this false concept of causality. According to three other versions, one can prove the existence of God; but each one present different image of requirement of "other ones than God" to God. Theologians and ordinary people believes that "every temporally contingent (Hadith Zamani) requires cause". The existence of God can be proved with this version; but the created beings require Him only in their creation. According to the statements of the pre-Mulla Sadra philosophers that "every contingent existent (Mumkin Al-Wujud) requires cause", God as the necessary existence (Wajib al-Wujud) can be proved and all the contingents require the necessary existence in being created and their continuity of existence. However, according to Mulla Sadra's viewpoint "every dependent being requires cause". This viewpoint is a more profound and precise analysis that depicts the manner of the requirements of the created beings to the transcendent God.
