The Effect of Physician's Characteristics on Adoption of Electronic Health Care ‎Records Based on the Technology Acceptance Model in Hospitals of Tehran ‎University of Medical Sciences, Iran‎ *

Physicians’ý resistance ýtoý accepting ýandý adopting ýElectronic ýHealth ýCare ýRecordý(EHCR)ýýis still a serious challenge to the nationwide adoption of EHCR. As a result, ýidentification of the factors that contribute to this challenge is valuable. Thus, this study ýwas performed to survey the effect of physician's characteristics on adoption of EHCR. A Descriptive-analytical survey was applied in this study. The study population ýconsisted of physicians who worked in 26 hospitals affiliated to Tehran University of ýMedical Sciences, Iran. From among them, 270 physicians were selected to participate ýin this research. The data gathering tool was a questionnaire the validity and reliability ýof which were confirmed. The data were collected, and then, analyzed using path ýanalysis in structural equation modeling (SEM) in SPSS and AMOS software. Theý resultsý showedý thatý thereý isý noý significantý correlationý betweený physicians’ý ýcharacteristics, such as age, work experience, computer familiarity, and EHCR ýfamiliarity, and perceived usefulness (PU) and perceived ease of use (PEOU). In ýaddition,ýnoýsignificantýcorrelationýwasýobservedýbetweenýphysicians’ýcharacteristicsýýand the technology acceptance model (TAM) variables. Physicians’ýcharacteristicsýdidýnotýhaveýanyýsignificantýeffectýonýacceptingýandýýadopting EHCR. Therefore, it is suggested that policymakers and managers focus on ýother factors that affect EHCR acceptance and implementation.
