Implementation of Electronic Wave Sensors for met-Ocean Buoys

In this paper, an electronic wave measurement sensor was designed based on accelerometer, gyro and compass sensors. The designation was done due to Micro Electro Mechanical systems (MEMS) technology and with regards to diversity method to promote the performance. As, calibration of sensors is necessary for omitting errors, a test and calibration set up was implemented and designed. Besides, the wave measurement sensor was assessed and verified. The field advantages for designed wave measurement sensor were compared with analytic results and a referenced buoy in frequency domain. Estimation of wave effective height was verified in a fair agreement, under 2% deviation against the referenced buoy.
