Comparison between mental health and inner Control and Child education Styles in mothers with more active children and mother with Common Childeren in Ilam city

The main objective of the current study is to compare internal locus of control and parenting styles of mothers of hyperactive and normal children. The statistical population of the study includes the mothers of children of age 5 to 10 years in Ilam City and the study uses a descriptive-based causal-comparative research method. Based on available sampling,70 mothers of children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder and 70 mothers with normal children were selected. In this study, four questionnaires including psychological characteristics questionnaire, Goldberg’s general health inventory, Rotter’s locus of control inventory and Baumrind’s inventory of parenting styles were used and the gathered data were analyzed using SPSS software application version 20. The results of the t-test show that there is a significant difference between the mothers of children with ADHD and mothers of normal children regarding mental health and its components. The results of the research show that compared to mothers of normal children, mothers of children with ADHD are more likely touse permissive and authoritarian parenting styles. Moreover, there is a significant relationship between mental health and internal locus of control in mothers of children suffering from ADHD. Based on the results of the current study, it can be concluded that there is a difference between mothers of normal children and mothers of children suffering from ADHD regarding mental health, internal locus of control and parenting styles.
