Message:
Abstract:
Sense of place attachment is one of the basic needs of communities affected by the quality and characteristics of the environment. Since place attachment influences the personal expectations¡ perceptions¡ responses and behaviors towards the environment¡ analyzing its strengthening and increasing components could be effective. Several factors affect the formation of sense of place attachment. The present study measures the sense of place attachment in the target community in city of Shiraz by analyzing the urban signs. Also¡ the relationship between place attachment and environment legibility and formation of the pattern of behavior are addressed. This article is developed by documentary and survey method using a questionnaire to collect information. In the end¡ the research components are analyzed by weighting based on Likert scale. The results indicate that the urban signs can increase the sense of place attachment and also this sense can lead to the formation of behavioral pattern among citizens. Although the signs affect the legibility of the environment¡ legibility cannot affect the sense of place attachment as an independent component.
