Introducing Some of Phenology, Morphology and Pomology Characteristics of Stella Sweet Cherry Cultivar Under Mashhad Conditions

In order to evaluate self compatibility and quantitative and qualitative characteristics of Stella sweet cherry cultivar, an experiment was conducted in Mashhad region during 2009-2013. Results showed that Stella cultivar is self fertile and there was not significant differences between self and open pollination for setting fruit. Phenological investigation showed that the flowering of the Stella starts at April 1 and full bloom is in April 5 and fruit ripening period is about 67 days. Stella has a semi-erect growth habit with average fruit weight of 7.71 g, stone weight 0.42 g, fruit peduncle length 20.92 mm, total soluble solids 18.06%, and titratable acid about 0.9%. Finally Stella cultivar with suitable traits such as self fertility and good yield potential, can be recommended in areas of sweet culture cherry.
