Appropriate Time for Controlling Major Insect Pests of Oilseed Rape

To determine suitable controlling time for some important insects pets of rapeseed and their feeding duration, different methods such as: setting yellow water and pheromone traps in fields, jarring buds and terminal shoots of plant on tray and rearing field-cllected larvae in the lab were used in Mazandaran province. Based on the results, early December was appropriate time for controlling stem-borer weevils, Ceutorhynchus spp., as the egg hatching and entering of the young larvae in the plant tissue occurred in the same time. The suitable time to control young larvae of Spodoptera littoralisis from mid-November until December, coinciding with rapeseed germination and cotyledon stages. The best time for treatment of flea beetles is early November. The best time for control of Meligethes aeneusin lowland (>500m high) is mid-March andin midland (500-700m high) as well as upland (Athalia rosae, Entomoscelis adonidis and Brevicoryne brassicae are not economically important and need no treatment in the region.
