Effect of Plant Density and Planting Date on Yield and Yield Components in two Varieties of Oily Helianthus Annuus L
Abstract:
In order to evaluate the effect of plant density (row spacing) and, planting date on two varieties of sun flower (Iro-Flour and Azargol), this experiment was conducted. Split split-plot layout base on randomize complete block design with four replications was used during of 2009 summer at the Agricultural Research Station in Uremia. The analysis of collected data indicated that there were significant differences between planting date for oil and grain yield, 1000 seed weight and number of seeds per head at 1% level. The effect of plant density was significant on all studied characters in this experiment in 1% probably. Significant differences were observed between varieties for grain yield, harvest index and oil content at 1% level. The highest yield (4057 kg/ha) was observed in Iro-Flour variety at 25 cm plant spacing on rows and planting date of 25 June 2009.
