The Place of Mir Sayyid Ali Hamedani in Spreading Sufism in Central Asia

Mir Sayyid Ali Hamedani is an Iranian gnostic, Sufi, scientist, and poet of the 8th century AH. and a major leader of Islam religion in Central Asia that had very important role in spreading Sufism in this region. The history of origin of Sufism is shortly reviewed in this article. Disposition to Sufism in Transoxania and formation of Sufi chains in this region are analyzed and the most significant chains are presented in accordance to their influence. According to existing original sources in this field, Nakshbandiya, Qadiriya, Yasaviya and Kubraviya were the most important chains of Sufism of this area and Mir Sayyid Ali Hamedani was a powerful founder of Kubraviya in Central Asia in the 8th century AH. The relationship of Mir Sayyid Ali Hamedani with Shaykh Alaa-oddawlah Simnani, Sheykh Mahmud Mazdakani, Najmuddin Muhammad Aldakani and Shaykh Akhi Alidusti and the travels that he had made on recommendation of some of these great men to different regions, including Khatlan and Turkistan are considered in this article as well. Some of the disciples and followers of this great thinker that became leaders of Mysticism and Sufism in the following ages are introduced at the end of the article.
