The Relationship between the Mother's Personality Traits and Their Children's Personality Traits and Creativity

This research was carried out with the purpose of determining the relationship between mothers’ personality traits and their children''s personality traits and creativity. To conduct this correlational study¡ 180 students of high school in Work-and-Knowledge major in Jiroft city were selected and were asked to complete Eysenck personality (Eysenck & Eysenck¡ 1963) and Abedi creativity (O''Neil¡ Abedi¡ & Spielberger¡ 1994) questionnaires. To analyze the data¡ Pearson correlation coefficient and the conventional canonical correlation were used. The results showed that there is a significant negative correlation between mothers’ psychosis and children’s creativity (P=0.001). There was also a significant relation between students’ personality triats extroversion (p =0.02)¡ lying (P = 0.01)¡ and psychosis and their creativity (P =0.001). Considering the high correlation between personality traits and creativity and the relationship between personality traits of mothers and their children’s personality traits. It could be concluded that counseling programs for families and the educational activities should pay attention to the concurrent and interactive role of the personality traits of mothers and their children.
