The elections and the events of the twentieth Parliament from the point of view of the weekly Tofigh

The National Parliament elections has been subject to fraud at different times, but the twentieth session of Parliament could be considered unique in this case, so that the XX legislative period in the literature of this epoch and in historical sources is interpreted as "scandalous election". The fraud led the internal groups of the dominant regime to criticized the elections, Not even the renewed election could change the situation and the above mentioned fraud finally caused the closure of Parliament. Due to lack of popular bases of Members of Parliament, the National Assembly, except for a few cases, lost its independent and critical functioning towards the government. These problems were observed by independent critics. Among the press that reflected the parliamentary elections and related issues, Tofigh, a famous weekly that gained at the time a huge popularity among different classes, had an extremely important place. This weekly, in accordance to its ironic structure, based upon prose, poetry and cartoons, by criticizing the parliamentary elections and the MP’s statements and positions, had an important role in enlightening the public opinion. In this article we try to study and analyze the point of view of this journal towards the twentieth Parliament’s issues. This study contains some questions as follows:1) The elections of twentieth session of Parliament how was reflected in Tofigh?
2) What is the overall view of Tofigh about Parliament, especially its twentieth period?
3) Which Parliament member has been more subject to criticism of this publication?
4) Which parliamentary legislation was discussed particularly by Tofigh weekly?
