Effect of graded levels of Canola oil and lysine on performance, fatty acid profile of breast meat and blood lipids parameters of broilers

Omega-3 fatty acids and their ratio to omega-6 fatty acids have a significant impact on community health and reduction of cardiovascular diseases, arthritis and diabetes.
This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of canola oil and lysine on performance, meat fatty acid composition and blood lipid parameters in broiler chicks.
A total of 240 day old Ross broiler chicks were used in a 3×2 factorial arrangement with canola oil (1, 3 and 5%) and lysine (recommended, and 25% more than recommended by Ross manual) in a completely randomized design with 4 replicates and 10 birds per each. At 42 d, two birds were randomly selected and slaughtered. Then, fatty acid profile of breast meat was determined.
The weight gain of chickens fed diets containing 5% canola oil were greater than those birds fed on other diets (P It can be concluded that diet containing 5% canola oil and recommended lysine level, improves weight gain, but have no any effects on unsaturated fatty acids of breast meat in broilers.
