Relationship of Hardiness and Work-Family Conflict Considering the Mediation Role of Subjective Well-Being in Job Stress Cast

Abstract:
Stress is one of the major dimensions of Subjective well-being studies that its role in physical illnesses, mental disorders and negative work outcomes has been confirmed.While the level of stress that anyone can experience is influenced by his/her cognitive appraisals, stress could be the mediation variable of individual differences and mental and organizational problems. In this regard current research investigates the mediation role of stress in the relationship of hardiness and WFC. The statistical population of this relational research is all workers of an industrial company in Esfahan and 217 workers were selected between them through classified random sampling. Results indicate the significant negative relationship of hardiness and stress, hardiness and WFC, and significant positive relationship of stress and WFC. Also findings based on mediation analysis and bootstrap method show that stress mediates the relationship of hardiness and WFC. Indeedhardiness results in positive cognitive appraisal of stressor situations and engagement in multiple roles, and through this way can decrease the job stress. Low stress can help the better management of work and family demands and decrease conflict of these demands. These findings show the key role of subjective wellbeing in relationship of personality characteristics and job problems.
