Factor structure of short form of the international scale of positive and negative affect in patients with coronary artery
Author(s):
Abstract:
Aim: The research aim was to determine the factor structure of the short form of positive and negative affect scale in patients with coronary artery disease in Iran.
Method
The research method was descriptive-correlation study and the sample was included 270 patients with coronary artery disease of Tehran heart center hospital that were selected by available sampling method and answered the short form of positive and negative affect scale of Thompson (2007). Exploratory factor analysis through principal components analysis and Varimax rotation were used to extract negative and positive affect factors.Results
Confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling results confirmed two factorial structures of this scale in patients with coronary artery disease. Cornbrashs alpha values were 0.71 for positive affect, 0.83 for negative affect and 0.74 for total scale that shows an acceptable internal consistency for this scale and two subscales.Conclusions
These findings suggest that this scale have acceptable construct validity in patients with coronary artery disease in Iran and it can be used in clinical and research settings.Keywords:
