The Efficiency of Intervention to Improve the Quality of Life on Awareness and Attitude of Women towards Narcotic Drugs in Kashmar

Today drug use is of the most unfortunate social harms and its increasing rate requires special attention. This study aimed to survey the effect of improving the quality of life on knowledge and attitude of Kashmar women toward drug use in 2015. A quasi-experimental design with pretest - posttest control group was utilized. The sample population was selected using simple random sampling and purposive sampling from among 20 to 45-year-old women hospitalized in drugs clinic in Kashmar. For collecting data, researchers utilized a Attitude Scale toward Addiction (2000) and a standardized questionnaire on the knowledge of the drugs in pre-test and post test. The experimental group underwent 10 sessions of intervention packages received based on improving the quality of life. The data obtained were analyzed using analysis of covariance. The findings showed that using the intervention based on the quality of life in women has a positive attitude towards drug abuse (0.01> p). Alos, intervention based on improving the quality of life increased women's awareness of drug abuse (0.01> p). Understanding the phenomenon of drug abuse and losses within the approach based on improving the quality of life, and introducing the principles and aspects of quality of life and the tree of life can be fruitful in raising awareness and changing attitude toward drug use in women.
