An Introduction to the Concept of Moral Revelation Psychology and Examining its Implications on Moral Philosophy

Author(s):
Abstract:
Moral heuristics are careless and intuitive rules which are used in moral routine conversations. Although these rules present a rapid and often correct answer to human`s moral dilemmas, careless and thoughtless use of them can lead to falsely moral decisions. The question here is; what implications and restrictions can infallibility of these heuristics bring for human`s moral thinking? This paper aims at introducing moral heuristics in psychology and examining their implications for different approaches to moral philosophy. At first moral heuristics were clearly explained through the library-based method, then by the method of logical-analytical the consequences of these heuristics were analyzed for different approaches to moral philosophy. Moral heuristics can show the moral decisions` fallibility, in case there is mere acceptance of emotivistic approach. Moreover on the contrary to what intuitivist moral philosophers declare, people use their own intuitions in everyday life rather than its mere use in fundamental moral problems.
