Evaluation of stress factors associated with treatment in hemodialysis patients of Buali Hospital in Ardebil

Hemodialysis patients during their long-term treatment plan always are facing many physiological and psychosocial stressors that may reduce their quality of life. Thus this study was performed to determine the severity of treatment-related stressors in hemodialysis patients of Buali Hospital in Ardebil in 2010.
In this cross-sectional study 50 hemodialysis patients at the dialysis center in Bouali Hospital of Ardabil were selected through head count. The two-part questionnaire was used to collect data. The first part of the questionnaire included demographic questions and the second part of the questionnaire was related to stressor scale which included physical factors with 7 words, Psychological factors with 13 words and social factors with 9 words. These questions are based on a five-point Likert scale (not at all to very much).The validity of the questionnaire was obtained with content validity and its reliability by test-retest method. Data were analyzed by descriptive and analytics statistics (ANOVA and independent t-test).
The results showed that the average of Psychological stressor was the highest level (30.280±3.920), then was the social stress (23.318±6.922) and the least were psychological factors (16.340±3.920). Also results showed a significant relation between psychological stressor with Psychological and social stressor (p The findings of this study showed that the mean of psychosocial stressors were higher than the mean of physiological and social stressors. So nurses can play important roles in promoting the quality of life by planning appropriate nursing interventions to reduce stress factors associated with treatment in hemodialysis patients.
