Knowledge Management; Challenges and barriers Its establishment in Islamic republic of Iran's Army

For the purpose of conducting its inherent mission, which is to protect the country’s independence and territorial integrity, the Islamic Republic of Iran Army needs information. Collecting such information is possible through efficient man power and advanced, modern and updated equipment. Today, possessing current information and knowledge has turned into a solemn position for individual as well as social and organizational survival. Even the ability to compete around depends on expanding individual and organizational knowledge to the extent that knowledge is regarded part of one’s asset. In order to make efficient use of the current knowledge in the Army, a new branch of management called knowledge management ought to be commenced. This will contribute to improving knowledge processes and will keep the competitive advantage of the Army by creating links between the strategy of the organization and knowledge management in providing individuals’ knowledge. Although the Army commanders have decently perceived the importance of knowledge management and many of them are attempting to found it, KM is not yet fully established and suffers challenges and obstacles which hinder its execution.
