Effect of Emotional Creativity Components on Addiction Potential with Mediating Role of Defense Styles in Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman, 2015

Emotional creativity and defensive style have an important role in the tendency to addiction, this study aimed to investigate the effect of emotional creativity component on the addiction potential with mediatingrole of defensive style.
This correlation study was conducted on 384 students selected by simple random sampling in Shahid Bahonar university of Kerman, 2015. The instruments were Andrews’s defense stylesscale, Averill & Knowles’s emotional creativity, and Weed & Butchers’ addiction potential questionnaires. Using SPSS 20, descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation and test t) and inferential statistics (stepwise regression) were used.
Findings:The results showed that there was a correlation between emotional creativity components (exception of innovation) and addiction potential. Defensive styles (exception of immature defense style) had a mediating role between emotional creativity components and addiction potential.
The relationship between emotional creativity components and addiction potential is not simple and linear in that the variables such as defense styles have mediating role in this relationship
