Synthesis, Characterization and Morphological Investigation of FAp-TiO2 Nanocomposite Coatings Used in Ti-based Dental Implants
In this research, solgel method was developed for synthesis of fluorapatite-titania (FAp TiO2) nanocomposite. Triethyl phosphate (PO4(C2H5)3), calcium nitrate (Ca(NO3)2) and ammonium fluoride (NH4F) and titanium isopropoxide (Ti(OCH(CH3)2)4) used as precursors. Also, ammonium hydroxide (NH4OH) was used as alkali catalyst. Nanocomposite powder and coating used for chemical and morphological investigations respectively. Chemical characterization was done by XRD and FTIR analyses. Photocatalytic behavior of nanocomposite was investigated by UV absorption analysis. Also, biocompatibility evalution conducted by immersing the coated substrates in simulated body fluid solution and measuring of Zeta-potential. The results revealed that FAp-TiO2 nanocomposite synthesized via sol-gel method have high purity and acceptable biocompatibility and show photocatalytic behavior. Microscopic images showed that the weight percentage of TiO2 affects morphology of FAp-TiO2 composite coatings.
