Examination of the Relationship between Social Capital and Job Performanceamong Professors of Lorestan Payame Noor University

The aim of this research is the examination of relationship between social capital and job performance among professors of Lorestan Payame Noor University, based on religious teachings. The research method is descriptive as correlation type. The statistical populations are professors of Lorestan Payame Noor University among which 380 one selected, by simple probability sampling. The data-collection tool is the questionnaire of social capital and job performance measurement. For explanation of the impact of each social capital component on manager's job performance, the Pearson’s correlation coefficient and multiple regression and for verification of linearity, R-square technique has been used.
The research findings show that there is meaningful relationship between social capital and job performance of the professors. Furthermore, there is a positive and significant relationship between components of social capital, including confidence, political participation, ability to form informal social relations, diversity in companionships and friendships and job performance. Results of regression with the step-by-step method demonstrate that among four components of social capital, i.e. confidence, ability to form informal social relations, diversity in companionships and political participation, respectively are the best predictors of job performance and overall, determine 78% of professor's job performance variance.
