Gerdi Domain, Collection of the Sistan Archaeology

Sistan with an area of over 8500 k.m. in the east of Iran and having 22 geographical domains is one of the most important archaeological regions in Iran. So that, about 1662 archaeological sites were identified on it during the archaeological field surveys. Gerdi domain with an area of 664 k. m in the south of Sistan having 485 archaeological sites is the most numerous archaeological domain in Sistan. It is located in the south of Sistan and in the region by no inhabitants and quite desert. Indeed, Gerdi domain is a part of desert of Iran.
The results of archaeological surveys that performed in this domain are as follows: 337 archaeological sites belong to the Iron Age; 202 sites to the historical period and 97 sites to the Islamic era. It should be notes that some of the archaeological sites have two or three different settlement periods as like as prehistory, historical period or Islamic era.
