Evaluation of virulence genes in the Salmonella enteritidis isolated from food ‎samples by multiplex-PCR

Salmonella enterica serotype Enteritidis is one of the most important cause of non-typhoidal ýsalmonellosis, a clinically less severe infection than typhoid fever. The present study aimed to ýdetection of virulence genes in the S. enteritidis isolated from the food samples by multiplex-PCR ýmethod.ý
In this descriptive cross-sectional study was performed during a year in 2014 on the 1250 no ýduplicative and non-repetitive food samples. M-PCR assay was done in order to detection of ýinvA ý¡ttrC¡ý mgtC¡ý spi4D and agfA genes.ý
Totally, sixty S. enteritidis strains were obtained from the poultry meat (38 strains, 61.6%) and ýthe eggs (23 strains, 38.3%), respectively. The highest and lowest prevalence of these genes were ýrelated to mgtC (51.6%) and spi4D (1.3%).ý
Evaluation of virulence genes in the S. Enteritidis isolated from food samples are useful because ýof the incidence of the virulence elements and efficiency of M-PCR in the epidemiological study ýand evaluation of intraspecies genes transfer in the various samples.ý
