Evaluation of Mehr Housing Project in Bojnord City from the Perspective of Environmental Design (CPTED)

Crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED) is a multi-disciplinary approach to deterring criminal behavior through environmental design. Mehr project, designed in 2007, aimed to cover a part of house shortage in Iran. The present study offers a scientific approach to the assessment of this project in Bojnourd from the perspective of CPTED principles. For this purpose 10 CEPTED principles were selected. These principles were weighted using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. Using a questionnaire and observing method for gathering data, it was concluded that this project is not doing well according to CEPTED principles. A specific sale was made for measuring this compliment: zero was the minimum and 10 was the maximum compliment with CEPTED principles. The result of the assessment was different from one principle to another, but the final score through statistical weighting was 3.93. It means that authorities should do something to improve safety standards in this project.
