Evaluating the relation of mental health and social capital (case study, Gorgan city)

The social capital that means that the people have acquired resources and protections in social relations and bonds has an exclusive importance and is considered as an axial principal. Regarding the importance of the matter, in the present study the relation between social capital and mental health amongst the citizens of Gorgan has been evaluated.
The methodology used in this research is descriptive-analytic with utilization of researcher built questionnaire. Therefore, in order to show the relation between the variables, the SPSS software and statistical tests have been used.
The majority of cases were married (68 percent) and 27.5 percent of bachelor and higher education. The average of dimension of social capital showed that social confidence with higher than average given in the first place and the two components of social interaction and community involvement, with average less than expected in the next stages are important. Finally, according to the F and regression test showed that F is equals the 0.178 and its significant is 95%.
It can be concluded, on the basis of the findings, that different dimensions of social capital are effective on citizen's mental health.
