Introduction
He used to s tudy at Neyriz School. He was fifteen years old when along with his mother, he moved from Neyriz to Shiraz. Two years later, he went to Tehran. In high school, he chose the field of mathematics and in 1960; he got his diploma in the same field. Based on a plan which he had in mind, ins tead of going to university, he chose to tech. He intended to shorten the dis tance with Tehran. He was employed in the Department of Education of Qazvin and s tarted teaching career. Concurrent teaching in the school, he was also s tudying for Entrance Comparative Examination of Universities. In 1965, he was admitted in the entrance exam of Faculty of Law and Political Sciences in the field of Political Sciences. He was also admitted in the entrance exam of the Faculty of Basic Sciences in the field of physics. He chose the field of political sciences. In the same period, he got familiar with the field of sociology and social sciences. As he himself s tates, after passing the course of General Sociology, he was interes ted in that field and specified his route for the continuation of his academic life:” I was not only interes ted in sociology but also day by day, I felt that I am not the man of politics and perhaps in sociology, I can find my own los t” In 1968, he selected the topic of “The role of Ayatolah Tabatabea in the Cons titution Movement “for his Mas ter’s thesis. However, due to the res trictions of the selections of pos t graduate s tudies, he was also s tudying in the field of Management and Educational Sciences as well. He began teaching sociology courses in the centers of higher educations in form of hourly paid service. In 1971, he was forced to resign from Department of Education. After that as the Expert of Education s tarted working in the Minis try of Labor. In 1975, he moved to England. “Going to the Europe was not very hard. I went UK without admission and for receiving admission, I referred to universities of Oxford, Cambridge and London and some other cities”. He pursued s tudying at Ph.D. level on sociology in University of London. He completed his s tudies fas t, because his wife was expecting him in Tehran and he had gone to s tudy in UK with a short leave as a employed s taff of the Minis try of Labor. In the beginning of 1978, he returned to Iran and in the summer of 1978, he transferred himself to the University of Ahwaz. Dr. Farhang Ershad is a retired professor of sociology from Shahid Chamran University of Ahwaz. He is now a member of Iranian Sociology Association, UK Sociology Association, International Association of Sociology, and Association of Middle Eas t S tudies. He also undertakes the editorship of specialized journal of Iranian Sociology Association too. Iranian his torical migration into India and its cultural consequences, Migration, Citizenship and development, work in abroad, Fundamental theory of sociology and theorizing of revolutions are some of the works by Dr. Farhang Ershad. The book of Fundamental theories of sociology translated by him was recognized as a worth appreciating book in the Ninth Series of the Academic Book of the Year in 1999.
